Guide · ceramic coating
How long does ceramic coating last?
One to two years for a single layer, three years and more for a layered coat. Your wash routine decides which end you reach.
Realistic lifespans
Our Essential coat, one professional 9H layer, lasts one to two years. The layered Signature coat lasts three years and more. Consumer sprays last months. “Lifetime” claims are marketing: the coating stops beading long before.
What shortens it
Petrol-pump brush washes, harsh detergents, acidic wheel cleaners, bird droppings left for days, and salt air never rinsed off. Mangaluru supplies all of them.
Signs it is wearing off
Water sheets instead of beading. The car gets dirty faster. Gloss dulls, first on the bonnet and roof, where sun and water sit longest.
Making it last
A pH-neutral maintenance wash every two to four weeks, a top-up at each wash, and the six-monthly warranty inspection. Kept that way, the Signature coat passes its three years. WhatsApp a photo and we will tell you how yours is holding up.
Questions
Ceramic coating: what owners ask
Can a coating be reapplied?
Yes. We lightly polish and recoat, for less than the first time, because the paint needs less correction.
Does the coating wear off faster on dark cars?
No, but dark paint shows the lost gloss sooner. PPF on the front helps.
